Non-subsidized LPG price hiked by Rs. 26.50 to Rs. 922 per cylinder

New Delhi: The price of non-subsidised cooking gas cylinders has been increased by Rs. 26.5.

The 14.2-kg cooking gas cylinder that consumers buy beyond their entitled six bottles at subsidised rates, will  now cost Rs. 922, up from Rs. 895.50 in Delhi, according to Indian Oil Corporation, the nation's largest fuel retailer.

A subsidised cylinder costs Rs. 410.42  in Delhi. There is no restriction on the number of non-subsidised cylinders that a consumer can buy beyond the six subsidised bottles.

In September, the government reigned in subsidies by introducing a limit of six discounted cylinders for every household.  That reform was one of the reasons for the exit of Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress from the Prime Minister's coalition, reducing his government to a minority.

The Congress has said that in states where it is in power, nine subsidised cylinders will be made available to families every year.

State-owned oil firms revise rates of non-subsidised LPG on 1st of every month based on the average imported cost and rupee-US dollar rate during the previous month.
